Torrevieja u3a Groups Update
January 2026
Groups Fair: Really looking forward to seeing you all on Monday 26th January 2026 at the CMO for the groups fair. More than 30 of our group leaders will be there showing off the diverse activities that Torrevieja u3a offers our members. Everyone is welcome, u3a member or not, so bring your friends with you to enjoy a wander around and a coffee.
Current Affairs & Discussion: David Ames has kindly taken over the leadership of this very popular group. If you wish to attend this group you need to contact David and give him your name, membership number and email address so that he can put you on his ‘members list’. David’s details along with the NEW email address for the group are on the website: torreviejau3a.org
Spanish Groups:
· Spanish Conversation for Beginners – Maureen, the group leader, has advised that the next course, starting on Friday 6th March, is already full but you can email her to be put on the Waiting List. See the website for contact details and further information.
· Spanish Improvers (via Zoom) – the new course, that started on 12th January, has a few places left. So, if you are interested in furthering your spoken Spanish please contact Rosa, the group leader, as soon as possible. See the website for contact details and further information.
· Spanish Basics – This group was run, very successfully, by Penny during 2025 but unfortunately is now CLOSED. Our thanks go to Penny on behalf of her students and we wish her well in her travels in 2026.

Lunch Group
5th December saw lots and lots of members enjoying a traditional Christmas lunch at Stan and Ollies in El Raso.

Walk & Talk
The last Walk & Talk of 2025, on Saturday 20th December, incorporated quite a long wander along the Rambla into Pilar de La Horadada Church square. With a coffee and catch up stop by the church followed by a visit to the Belen.

Ramblers
Saturday 6th December saw in excess of 20 Torrevieja u3a members take to the promenade of Santa Pola, ending at the medieval market inside the castle walls for a wander around and the obligatory coffee stop before setting off back. A great 12k ramble with friends, well organised by group leaders Steve and Iris.

Petanca
On Wednesday 17th December a dozen or so members of the Petanca group met at Christopher’s restaurant in Mar Azul for an excellent Christmas meal - great food and even better company.

A lovely photo of members enjoying the last walk of 2025 on Monday 22nd December in the La Mata Nature Park.
