This game has very quickly become a firm favourite with members and there is no need to worry if you haven’t played this particular racquet sport before as the Group Leader is on hand to help and encourage players.
Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong using a paddle/short-handled bat to hit a plastic ball with holes in it over a net. It is a game for players of all skill levels with its own set of unique rules.
Players are advised to take a bottle of water with them and to wear sports trainers for better traction on the courts.
The venue, El Capitan, has three pickleball courts. The cost of hiring the courts is shared between the players. It is also possible to hire pickleball paddles at the venue.
IMPORTANT: Although there are now 3 pickleball groups Members are asked to be considerate and only play a maximum of twice a week as the number of players for each session is limited to sixteen.
